Solutions For Issues With Chime or Transmitter
Step 1) No sound solution:
Replace all batteries in chime and transmitter If the chime still is not working go to step 2.
Step 2) No sound could also be a defective speaker.
Step 3) Blow dry transmitter if wet.
Step 4) Check continuity of the mat with ohmmeter to confirm it is opened or shorted out.
Step 5) Place the mat on the floor and walk all over each side make sure to do this to both sides. Or use a rolling pin to reset the contacts in the switch by doing the same procedure above.
Step 6) If the mat was left in direct sunlight for more than 2 hours and the system is not working properly, place the mat in the freezer for 30 minutes.
Step 7) Remove mat from freezer and use the rolling pin method or foot method to reset the contacts in the mat.
If mat was folded, the chime will fail to function or will constantly chime. Use a method above to resolve the issue.
Step 8) The chime test button works but mat will not activate chime. Remove all batteries for 30 min. replace battery in transmitter and chime if needed. When replacing battery make sure larger spring in battery holder is negative on both chime and transmitter.
Caution! Do not fold mat, keep it flat at all times.
Is your mat used inside or outside? If outside, be sure to keep mat and transmitter free from ice, snow and water. Clean and inspect the mat system often.
How far apart are the transmitter and chime unit? Try bringing the transmitter and chime closer together, making sure no metal walls etc, block the signal. The system will work going though both standard walls and doors.
Chime battery voltage needs to be maintained at 4.5 volts (1.5 per. bat.) or the codes will be dropped. Are the batteries new?
Try removing transmitter battery then reseat it, do not remove the chime batteries at this time. If the chime works, then it could be a bad connection in the transmitter battery connection.
Remember when the batteries are removed from the chime it will reset it's codes, removing the transmitter battery does not.
To reset codes in chime, remove batteries for 15 min. then replace them, once in make sure to immediately activate the mat to confirm it is working and the chime gets activated.
Try cleaning (rubbing Alcohol and Q-tip) the two (male and female) connections on the transmitter and mat, there may be a coating left on them, also make sure that the male connection on the mat is making good contact with female connection on transmitter. If needed lightly squeeze the outer contact on the mat male connection.
Remove transmitter battery and clean inspect both springs for glue or other foreign material. The chime may be losing its codes by, defective chime, low battery or another device interference.
